Brittany Murphy's Last Movie Gets Release Date

Brittany Murphy's final film will be released this summer. The actress -- who died from cardiac arrest in December at age 32 -- filmed psychological horror thriller Abandoned last June
Film distribution company Anchor Bay Entertainment purchased the rights to the film, which co-stars Dean Cain and Mimi Rogers.

"Brittany will be deeply missed by everyone who worked on Abandoned. The film is a taut thriller which portrays Brittany's character as smart and tough -- and that's how we all want to remember her," producers Jeffrey Schenck and Barry Barnholtz said in a joint statement to Reuters Friday.

Anchor Bay Entertainment president Bill Clark said it was an "honor and bittersweet" to release the movie.

A coroner ruled Murphy's death accidental as a result of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication.

For more details about the troubled star's dependence on prescription medication, her erratic behavior on movie sets (she was reportedly fired from horror flick The Caller after only one day of filming) and the one thing she could have done to prevent her death, pick up the current issue of Us Weekly, on stands now.

Heath Ledger and Britney Murphy would've done AWESOME work, on-screen as Joker & Harley Quinn.

I f*cking hate prescription drugs now. :(
